But if you live in town or a subdivision, etc. I can see that the hunt may seem more important. No harm in enjoying nature like that.

I’m probably not as rural as you are. I live on 25 acres, the road I live on just got paved a few years back. I’m not in a subdivision or anywhere close to one but I definitely do enjoy seeing new country. We don’t have mountains in my part of NC. Well, we have the Uwharrie Mountains but those are just hills compared to what you’ve got and what we hunted in SWVA. Everybody has a different perspective, but I like the chase just as much as the kill

Gotta live up to the nickname...

So where all have you traveled to kill turkeys?

..at least shoot a crow or something

That's hilarious! The first thing I thought was "Geez, you didn't bring a crow call along so you could kill something?!". grin

Kind of like fishing for fun and not eating, I prefer to eat but unless I’m wrong you can’t hunt Sunday in that state because of some 400 year old law or something

I hunted 4 years for a big horn in an unlimited draw area between 10 and 12 thousand feet in Montana .The season opened the middle of November.I did fill my tag the 4th year. Was it about killing something, sure but it was also one hellva hunt.

Some of my most memorable turkey hunts, I did not harvest a bird. There's always something to learn and the older I get just the opportunity to go is priceless. I'm very fortunate to have several private farms to hunt on. Turkey hunting reminds me a lot of beaver trapping, one of the easiest hardest things there is to do. Three years ago two of my sons harvested giant mature Toms. They had less than 30 minutes of field time in between them. My youngest son and I had over a 100 hours of field time between us with nothing to show for it. I guess that's just turkey hunting. What a gift it is to be able to go, there's something about it for me that I can't explain. Happy hunting !!
