So for me it's about the kill, not the hunt!! I upset people often because I say I hunt to kill. Period. But if you live in town or a subdivision, etc. I can see that the hunt may seem more important. No harm in enjoying nature like that. I’m probably not as rural as you are. I live on 25 acres, the road I live on just got paved a few years back. I’m not in a subdivision or anywhere close to one but I definitely do enjoy seeing new country. We don’t have mountains in my part of NC. Well, we have the Uwharrie Mountains but those are just hills compared to what you’ve got and what we hunted in SWVA. Everybody has a different perspective, but I like the chase just as much as the kill
Gotta live up to the nickname...

I live in WV. Right smack dab in the middle of the mountains. In fact National Forest completely surrounds my house. So I see that every day. only it's all forest. One morning turkey hunting according to my Iphone I walked 13.7 miles. I do try to walk ridges and not up and down as much as possible. I average about 8 miles a day turkey hunting. Usually 1-3 miles before daylight. So for me it's about the kill, not the hunt!! I upset people often because I say I hunt to kill. Period. But if you live in town or a subdivision, etc. I can see that the hunt may seem more important. No harm in enjoying nature like that. So where all have you traveled to kill turkeys?

Sometimes you have to change your expectations to be more about the hunt then the game. The game is what got you there though but there's other things to enjoy while you are there. It beats throwing a fit. ..at least shoot a crow or something That's hilarious! The first thing I thought was "Geez, you didn't bring a crow call along so you could kill something?!".

BS…. You go out there to kill
… the only time people say it’s not about the kill is when they don’t kill anything lol Kind of like fishing for fun and not eating, I prefer to eat but unless I’m wrong you can’t hunt Sunday in that state because of some 400 year old law or something

I hunted 4 years for a big horn in an unlimited draw area between 10 and 12 thousand feet in Montana .The season opened the middle of November.I did fill my tag the 4th year. Was it about killing something, sure but it was also one hellva hunt.
