Keep reading about coyotes taking out coons and possums. Well, I have proof…

Coming in on a sneak attack…

Oops, been caught, act like you’re just passing through…

Or instead of having possum, let’s just enjoy the peanuts together, lol.

I guess our coyotes just ain’t as vicious as their cousins up North or out West.

What really happened is that possum went all Chuck Norris on him, but it was so fast the camera couldn't catch it.

I don't believe coyotes take out coons and possums. They coexist together. Even when coons or possum are in a trap, I haven't had coyotes mess with them. I'm not going to say it has never happened, but it's probably few and far between. I have had coyotes eat dead coons I dispatched and tossed to the side but not often. Only in the dead of winter when they're desperate.

I read a study and even listened to a podcast that hinted at coyote trapping and thermal hunting is “partly” to blame for the lower populations of turkeys.
By taking out the coyotes we increase the coon and possum numbers because coyotes feed on them. I called Bull then and still do. I have too many photos of trapped coons/possums with coyotes and cats coming by and not messing with them. I have plenty of pics like these as well and even a few videos.

I will tell you what eats coons and possums in a trap…alligators!! My son was checking traps yesterday and called and said these MB550’s are alligator proof! He’d caught a possum and a gator came up and grabbed the possum and left a leg. Apparently it did the death roll before he ripped it apart, lol. He even said the chain and swivels were ok. He did reset the trap while facing the swamp, lol.

I agree....coyotes and bcats RARELY mess with a trapped coon and NEVER a trapped possum. At least not here in the deep South.

I have had about 3 or 4 coon killed in 40 years of trapping and well over 1000 coons caught.

If coyotes cared to kill possums, there wouldn’t be a possum left. Its not like they bother trying to run away, they’re as easy to catch as a turtle.

Tom bobcats eat coons. Some prefer it. Feed many a cat coon legs.

Praise the Lord and Pass the ammunition.
