Buzzard shows back up and then this gets posted. Coincidence? I think not.

Worked at a marina next to a boat ramp in college. Saw some good ones. On more than one occasion not trimming the motor up and grinding it up the ramp.

Its not funny when your at a dock getting loaded/unloaded and you see that guy trying to back in 3 feet beside you.

Best one I ever seen and it really wasnt a backing up issue so much...

Husband and wife were trying to get the boat on the trailer. Wife starts out IN THE WATER waist deep, trying to get the boat on the trailer properly. She wasnt having any luck. Husband comes out and takes her place IN THE WATER waist deep, and she gets in the truck. Husband has the wife back the truck up even more. She NAILS him with the bumper of the truck.. I was watching this as I was loading up my kayak, Didnt stick around for the rest of ensuing shouting match that occurred for safety reasons.

I found out in my early 20’s that telling a fellow “hey why don’t you let your wife do that” could have unexpected results….

She was able to get the trailer backed down the ramp in one try….

Most people these days seem to think those shiny things on the driver and passenger doors are June Bug deflectors, not mirrors. I love the guys that have to put a ball hitch on the front bumper.

I can honestly say I’ve caused people to bring lawn chairs and six-packs to boat landings over the years. I can do sheet rocking, some electrical work and gardening without so much as a raised eyebrow. But, backing a boat down a ramp eludes me.

Holiday weekend and a comfortable chair, cold beverage and a shade with a good view of the public ramp can be some of the best entertainment.

All you guys act like y’all were born being professional boat backer upper guys. Like you did t have to learn Like there wasn’t a time that you were THAT guy if even for just a time or two. Give the guy a break. Maybe it’s his FIRST time.

There are guys that have grown up backing trailers and then they go buy a boat and then there are guys that just go buy a boat.

The trick is to pull down the ramp, turn, drive up the ramp, get everything straight, have your trailer tire on your lane marker sometimes its just a cut in the concrete, find your trailer tire in your mirror, find that line in your mirror, back up slowly watching those two things, slowly I said, keep that tire on the line, when it starts going the wrong way hit the break, correct, and just keep that trailer tire on its line. When you correct the wrong direction hit the break and stop and go the right direction and start slowly again.

Do that a few times and you'll be a pro. My buddies wife backs their wake boat in. Shes a champ. Someone first stood there teaching her the above and its all down hill from there.

I have been backing up boat and utility trailers for 60+ years. I used to be very proficient. Not anymore. I'm not as bad as the videos but every year I get worse. I can no longer turn my neck like I used to and the high back seats on the newer vehicles certainly don't help. Where I live now I launch once a year and keep the boat on a lift. I avoid the weekend and launch preseason thereby avoiding any witnesses. LOL

I would imagine the videos of these people trying to get their boats into whatever spot they've designated for there boat at home are even more entertaining. Just not filmed as much because they're aren't in public areas.

I started with trailers pulling my lawnmower and trailers behind the 4 wheeler. One thing you learn with trailers, the shorter they are, the more of the devil they have. Backing a long trailer is easy. Backing a trailer that is shorter than the vehicle is like instant jackknife as soon as you turn the wheel.

They have these things called mirrors that eliminate the need to turn your head :P

Corky-I am having the same experience you are with my neck and just about every other part of me that used to turn and bend they way it was supposed to. We put a hitch on our Ford Edge and the seats are way to high and the windows way to narrow for good visibility as well. I guess I am just going to have to hang onto my rusty old Suburban for trailer work!
