I got an official letter for federal court last August. So I filled out the questionnaire, sent it back, and waited. Then I got a second letter and this one asked if I felt there was a reason to be excluded. So I dutifully said I was excited to serve but I wore hearing aids in both ears. And I had a medically documented mental aversion to details, so I have to write everything down or I won’t remember it.
Two weeks later I got a third letter thanking me for my offer to serve but I was excused. Either the federal government appreciates honesty or they don’t want to have some old fool asking for things to be repeated. It pays to be honest, sometimes.

I wish I could sit on a jury. It is a civic duty. I am automatically excused as a member of the bar.
Remember you are answering those questionnaires from the Court/counsel under oath. Is that oath before Apollo or some other deity?

I’m going to be the nightmare that the current face of prosecutors and judges are.
You'll never get selected. And don't spend your per diem all in one place! ( it did go up a year or two back, might be able to Super Size your McD's!!!

In MN, the federal courthouse I’m familiar with is in downtown Minneapolis.
I answered their questions truthfully. I do wear hearing aids. I do have medical documents identifying my aversion to details. And I do ask questions when I can’t hear or don’t understand things. This is what comes with being in my 70s.

The questionnaire just asked if I was a citizen of the United States, a resident of the county requesting service and if I was a felon. They did suggest that if I were infirmed I could be excused. Luckily, I still possess all my faculties and physical health.

I find it terribly disheartening that people feel serving on a jury is a problem to them. But when and if they needed a jury trial, they are first to want to help select one composed of their peers !
Just how would that go, asking a whole court room of people of your peers, when no one wants to be on a jury, guess you get what you reap !!
I was on a jury once after being given the mailer 10 or 15 times in my life, was selected and made the foreman as well, was a great experience being involved in our legal duty, would have done it for free as well, just for the experience !
Hearing the reasons people used to get out of duty was disgusting really and a great let down about some of our countries peoples ideas of how a jury works and a court of law, when they never have attended a court. But listen to others who give them such bad advice about how the process works when never having been through it !
