Not exactly hot but a few getting caught now. I got one this morning I thought was a male with some of that good belly fat. Nope. Full of eggs. Going back out this evening. Grandson caught a real decent flathead. 35 pounds? Had to release it. Snagged flat heads have to be released. He was not happy about that.

Best eating fish in the river to me.

Spoonbill tastes fine, but I've never tried the green stuff...I will take your word on it.

Paddlefish are very mediocre table fare in my opinion.
WAY better eating fish out there.
Now that flat is close to the top of the list!!!!!

I may be biased but Coldwater walleye, bluegill, perch or crappie are tough to beat. A nice young guy John something brought some halibut to the MTA summer convention in Hibbing probably 15 years ago or so. That was by FAR the finest eating fish I have ever tasted.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Spoonbill are fun to snag.

I don't care for eating them.
I didn't go this year, but I always saved some back to give to people wanting a bag of fish.

Been spoiled on crappie, walleyes and bluegills.

I don't care to eat them and I know how to clean them. Back when the coon market was good and the river was right my son and his buddies snagged a bunch of them. They are the best bait in a pocket there is. Put a chunk of it in the back of a pocket on the river and you can see the oil oozing out of it in the water. Coon love it.
