Has anyone noted discrepancies between electronic Blood pressure monitors and when a nurse takes it? I feel like mine is consistently higher when I’m at my moms. Maybe it’s just because I’m at moms crazy

Mom's been having problems so she took hers to the Dr. To see how close it was . The bottom numbers was 2 points higher. not sure what brand it is though. However my wife's a nurse, and I know a few of her fellow old school mates I wouldn't trust their ability in taking it.

Yes. I have taken mine in to compare back to back with my NP.

Making sure it is a quality device , batteries good , etc.

Comparing BP readings back to back can really help. Mine too is higher there than in the quiet setting at the cabin. And I feel very comfortable with my NP.

For myself, I think just being in town, driving, and knowing Ill be in motion on the way back , all has my subconscious worked up a lot more.

You know how the dogs are when they are at the vets....they can really get worked up .

I have white coat syndrome, lol. Mine can be fine at the house and get to the medics and it’s up there!! I can leave and 10min later take it and it’s normal again.

Sharon, mom gets me ramped up. She worries about EVERYTHING and she picks and aggravates me about the littlest things. Now she wants me to see about a low dose BP med because my diastolic was 95. When I went to the doctor for GI checkup a month ago it was 78.
I feel like I probably need something for stress and anxiety than a BP med.
Or more time by the koi pond to relax. And less of mom calling my workplace to see if I arrived there okay because I was too busy and didn’t answer her texts in a timely manner

Big differences. At the doctors office (part of Mayo) they use the automated machine. They used to do it manually if I ask. Now they don't.
One time the machine said my BP was 172 over something. With the cuff and stethoscope, it was 134 over something.

My wife takes my BP at home with the cuff and stethoscope.

Deep, slow breathing lowers BP. There's a system called box breathing, 5 seconds inhale, 5 sec out. If you can go longer then do. It will lower BP. The right music also will have effect. Ask the successful Dairy farmers why they have soothing music playing in the barns at milking time.

Thinking of something you love that is soothing will do it too. Petting a soft furry pet will.

But box breathing, I learned long ago in martial arts, really does help in a mighty way to regulate BP. You can do that right in front of someone , on the spot , and they won't notice. Or right after you leave the stress source. The old saying " take a breath" , is really rooted on mental success.

My oil pressure is always fine unless just walked in the 2 blocks from the parking lot. Had a nurse that told me crossing legs under the chair added BP pressure readings.

cuff size matters HUGE

if I have the right cuff xxl I will be 110 over 70

wrong cuff and you would think my eyes should explode

I was at 240 when I had the adverse reaction to being vaccinated and survived. At 240 you can die at any time. At 180, the average remaining life span is 10 months. There's an 80% chance you will be dead before a year at 180.

The nice thing at 240 is there is no wait at the hospital, as I found out.
