He was a stutterer.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

That is an excellent question When he still had his business in Fort Laudon I lived about an hour from there And even though it would have been easer to just pay shipping I would make the trip to buy my supplies I remember being there n the old farm building that had been converted in to his stock room for his trapping business As I recall he only was open Wed. afternoon and evening and Sat morning for any sales other than catalog business It does not seem that long ago But the business of trapping and time in general has under gone massive changes since th1980's Hern Nice picture !! Hawbaker was a well known trapper But and I DO NOT MEAN THIS IN A NEGATIVE WAY .He was a wise businessman that i influenced the way the trapping industry was conducted

When i was about 11 or 12 i ordered logwood dye and his muskrat and coon lure c.o.d. i think i may have stated my age and reading about him. He sent it postage paid a
nd no charge.good to a kid.
Also my first fur buyer as a kid paid me 2.50 for rats and i traded critters for new traps alot. Sold rats to him yrs later for the same 2.50. Those older guys were great to help kids get started.
