So I got this 1966 Mustang it's an inline 6, carburetor was pretty rough so I ordered a replacement autolite 1100, looks like a cheap reman should have known anyway I've replaced the accelerator pump gasket twice and it still weeps some gas any recomendations on a higher quality single barrel carb?

Rochester has always been good but don't know if they do Ford.

I had a 66 Mustang. Dark geen, GT model, 289. Man I wish I had that car back.
Rochester was kind of a GM thing. As I remember all Ford products had Autolite (which was a sub-division of Ford Motor Company) carburetors. Proprietary.
Good luck finding an original.
Most anything 1966 vintage has been melted down years ago. Fairlane would have had the same carb.

You tried E-Bay?

I've run 4 barrel Holley carbs for 20+ years on both Chevelles. Never had a lick of trouble with them.

I've had 2 '66 Stangs , both w/289cid , auto.

To the OP , have you considered rebuilding the carburetor ? Fairly easy on a 1bbl. If you are not inclined , most automotive machine shops can do the job affordably.

Simple fix. You need to put just a very thin smear of RTV (the good black stuff, not that vinegar-smelling red or blue stuff) on both sides of that gasket, just where it seals, and just snug up the screws, don't crank them down. Overtightening them will warp the cover. Same with the power valve gasket, it'll seep without that smear of RTV. The 2 barrel 2100/2150 carbs were the same way

Very likely that would fix it. Good tip. Thanks for posting.

I have an edelbrock Carb on my Camaro and have never had any trouble. Have one on my 67 chevy pick up and never any trouble from it either.

God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.
