Maybe a long shot here, but does anyone have experience/ feedback with the Northern Tool log splitters?

Looking at the Northstar 37 ton model with a Honda GX 270 engine.

That's some great feedback. A local has a tree handling business that gets 15 loads or so a day from the area tree services.

Free supply of oak & hickory, so time to kick it in gear and start laying in some wood....

Appreciate it y'all!

I’ve been running that cylinder for years it’s held up great nothing it won’t split and I do some big rounds. Years back you could buy the cylinder kit and build your own so that’s what I did I assembled the parts and the Hoots here built it.

I do big pieces for my boiler so I still have the wings for splitting a smaller wood piece 4 ways in one pass so don’t buy that accessory I’d sell you the one I have cheap.

My friends splitter is in 11th grade now. Splits and stacks all the wood he needs. Two years from now? College? Military? no more splitter for him......jk

Just might take you up on that wing splitter...Just ordered the log splitter, should be here in a couple wks.

Going to drive down to the Northern Tool store in Murfreesboro Tennessee to pick it up...They wanted $275 to drop ship it, but the $50 in gas and 3 hr round trip looks better when retired.

Have their 22 ton for almost 20 yrs, no problems. My buddy borrowed it after I got it and was impressed so he bought the NT 30 ton model. He's the kind of guy that needs the biggest. His is still going strong too. Dont buy the optional 4 way wedge to use on this splitter tho. The reason is: ANY splitter with a 4 way needs to have the pusher on the cylinder and the 4 way (knife) on the very end of the i-beam. The reason is there is the splits can easily fall of the end of the i-beam once split. If the knife is on the cylinder, like the NT splitter, the wood is wedged between the top of the ibeam and the sideways part of the knife as the cylinder is extended. This puts alot of stress on the splitter and will slow down the pump.

Yes'Sir, it's a fortunate situation...Bucked big red oak trunks yesterday & have a big pile ready to split.

Think hickory puts off a bit more heat, and smells great, so it's hard picking a favorite between oak & hickory.

Mike, I can smell that hickory burning now...love those odors. We have a lot of cherry trees around my area and they throw off a great smell.
As for me....I just gather up beaver chewed wood off the dams, cut it up dry it out and use that for our little fire pit when the family is around.
Hope all is good.
