Warbler Migration is coming to an end for the spring, one of my favorite times of year.

Sadly a very concerning trend continues as this was the worst spring migration I’ve ever had in terms of numbers of warblers. I’ve echoed the same thought the previous 3-4 years and every year just get worse. The days of getting into “warbler swarms” with trees sometimes holding 30-50 birds at a time and just getting overwhelmed as a birder trying to ID everyone has gone to 1-2 birds with much less variety of species.
Hummingbirds never did show up this spring (usually get 4-5) during migration for a couple weeks and only a couple orioles which we are usually overrun with.

Hopefully some others are seeing some birds and they have just changed their migration patterns, and not just disappeared.

Lovely pics, Tray. I'm afraid you're right.

I haven't had any pretty Towhees, or Song sparrows to my seed. And the hummers, I have three varieties here, aren't in the numbers they used to be. Not the amount of Western Tanagers, either.

And my lovely Varied Thrushes....who never were common, they are still here and Im hoping they stay alright.

My Siskens aren't in the numbers they were either. Some are here , though. I have warblers here, planted lots of trees and shrubs that they like. But the Yellows , aren't near the numbers they should be. A good number of Cassins Finches, they are always welcome. Lots of froggies in the swamp across the road, though.

Sure look forward to hearing many of these singers every year.

I wonder if the west nile virus affects warblers? It takes a tole on ruff grouse, but doesn't seem to bother turkeys. Ive been told the disease affects certain song birds, but not others.
