If slugs are an issue try to get copious amounts of Sluggo spread before ripening. Once berries are ripe not quite as effective.

Do the slugs eat it and die or do they have to crawl through it to die ? My strawberry patch is to big to try and put a ring of it around every plant. I allready was looking on the net and found the sluggo but it sounded like you have to put it around each plant. Can I just sprinkle it through the patch ?

I've heard that saucers of beer work good for controlling slugs.

Forest, they smell it and look for it and then eat it. Don't have to sprinkle around each plant. I control acres at a time by sprinkling it up the rows. It is non toxic to humans so even us certified organic guys can use it.

Any pellet baits labeled for slugs and snails with 1% Iron phosphate should work. I use alot of it for the early growth stages of my giant sunflower plants and around my mushroom log piles..

I have been using Slug and Snail Bait that I get at Lowes garden center dept. "Garden Safe" is its name brand. It isn't cheap but it works.

The slugs were bad about a week ago when I first I noticed them on my early growth of Lions Mane mushrooms. The slugs must have been there a few days as they had done some damage already. I fixed them fast. I haven't seen any since. I sprinkled around each log stacked pile and on top of some of the logs randomly.

They ingest the bait and the active ingredient causes them to stop feeding and eventually they die of starvation.

Arsenic based slug bait, placed in the areas they are devastating, will leave no living slugs in less than 24 hours. I had huge leopard slug problems at my last house. After one treatment, I didn't see any slugs for 2 years. After the second treatment, 2 years later, I never had slug problems again.

Sluggo for me.
As stated its a food.
Get them before you have to compete with your garden.

Sluggo does work great. I would be very cautious with the idea of any arsenic bait. As it can persist for a long time in the environment and is not pet safe. Like Bob mentioned, Sluggo has a very safe active ingredient.
