Told nephew I might let him help me with a few welding projects and he seems excited. Anyone know where a guy could get some decent welding gear thats kid sized ? Really just some mig gloves pretty sure I can get one of my hoods to fit but heck i have a hard time finding gloves that fit me so I know this might beba bit of a pain

Lol you sound like me, you wouldn't believe the looks I got at the saw shop asking for youth sized chains saw chaps. They said they don't make them I asked why and he looked at me like I was mentally challenged and replied most people don't have kids running chain saws.

Welding gloves are something I didn't think of. That will need to be picked up as soon as I get another 220 plug put in.

Won't some of your stuff fit him?

for a start if not welding too much or too long most any 100% cotton shirt and a pair of cotton gloves inside leather.
toss an welding apron on and should be good enough
if hat ones down the cuffs of the glover were an issue you could make cuts out of canvas that would also better protect his arms

and I also thought you were so small that most of your stuff should fit just touch big on him

Find some gloves that are a little big on you,,and they should fit the kid.

black stallion tig gloves, available from baker gas and welding online. several sizes. maybe a local welding supply carries them, check there first. popular glove for tig or fine mig welding.

My dad started me out welding when I was around 12. He gave me a cheap helmet (might have been like pressed paper) so I could weld and he could watch to tell me what to do different. Or vice versa. I just used same welding gloves he did. They were too big for me, but didn't matter. Long sleeves, long pants and leather boots. All it required.

If you have trouble with a hood fitting, double a wash rag and wrap it around the front of the liner. You can tape the ends so it doesn't unravel. You can find youth leather gloves at about any farm store. As far as a shirt goes, just have them wear an old hoodie.

Lincoln Electric has small and extra small gloves. That's what I wear to weld---I bet they would work for your nephew
