I’m sure others have had this happen but it’s a first for me.
1 trap, 3 coons, in 24hrs.
Caught the first yesterday morning…


Yesterday evening the camera goes off. It was right before dark so I decided to go ahead and take care of the coon and reset.


So this morning I get up to go check sets and couldn’t believe the camera pic I got right before I got to the gate…

This trap has been there for 2 weeks with NOTHING hitting on it. I’d caught 8 already in the 2 DP’s right near it though. Placed the foothold there because a coyote would roam through occasionally.

I had a box trap catch 19 days in a row once. It was on my mom's 3 acre lot. She and her neighbors fed a bunch of feral cats. I caught 43 raccoons, 38 opposums, 8 skunks and 1 red fox during a fairly short part of 1 season using 6 box traps, plus other animals. Many days all 6 traps were full and I frequently had more than 1 catch in a trap. Habituated critters are easy to catch. That best producing trap was along a heavily traveled path against the right side of her house behind a large Arbor vitae.

One way to save gas ,not having to run a bunch of traps . Good deal.

I am a firm believer they are more curios about a stinky cooned/skunked up trap

I have had 6 out and a cage for 2 weeks since 5 hens were lost to racoons that ripped back the 1/2 inch hardware cloth on a coop

the cage actually started catching first , it still had a little skunk on it the first night it was cage and 2 DPs with catches

a DP set right in a trail , then a DP on the back side of the coop

2 traps have not been hit they aren't 25 feet from the coop but must not be the direction of travel

the traps that have caught and had a big old catch circle caught again and again.
I supposed those were also good locations to start

things have slowed down now but 11 coon , 4 possum , 1 skunk

seems like any trap that catches a skunk is the hot trap full every night with something else.

As said many times on here. The Best set for a coon is making a perfect coyote set
