you guys are looking at it wrong, of all the money you spend on guns and camo and gas, what percentage is the cost of ammo? if you can turkey hunt you shoot what? 2-3 per season? ya got that dedicated turkey gun, drive a 50 grand truck, camo, calls, bug spray, some rent a motel or pay an outfitter and your whining about 15 bucks a round for 3 rounds. personally I use a 20 ga. dedicated turkey gun, cost 900 bucks, got 200+ in a red dot and mount, 100 bucks in a choke, and shoot 2 oz bosstom ammo at 11 bucks per round and the enjoyment I have hunting is worth 10x the money spent.

Some guys want to shoot a bird at 60 yards some guys prefer 30 yards because calling is #1 for many hunters not just getting a bird.

Why is the 7-9 mix not what I want? I like the concept, but I may be wrong.
TSS is 30% heavier than lead,, #9 TSS will out penetrate a #5 lead in ballistic jell, and you get a lot more pellets in a straight load of #9, they don't flop like they do with TSS compared to lead if hunting on steep terrain.

He gets it. Another way to look at is guys will buy beer, ciggys, pull tabs, spend time at the casino, the list goes on. But wont spend money on the best ammo?

Next thing you know, someone will be saying they would use a cross cut saw to fell trees because they are a lot cheaper and will still put the trees on the ground.

Ok so seriously though, not a turkey hunter so IDK all the whatever but on average how many shells does a a age turkey guy go though in a year ? Know most deer hunters brag about take a few seasons to use up a 20rd box of shells so.... Is that the same with turkey hunting or ? Because I think most guys only shoot what ...one or two ?a season?

Depends, do you just buy a license and stay in your State? If that’s the case 1-3 maybe. If you travel, then you could shoot up to 10+ a year. Do you hunt where there’s hogs and coyotes? Add another few shells in the mix. And yes, I don’t give a rip if they’re $20 a shell, a coyote or hog comes by me in range and I’m letting it rip!! I still laugh at the I only shoot them at 30yds and I don’t shoot them at 60. I want y’all’s LRF eyes, lol. In the woods, yeah, I can figure it out even without a range finder. Put me on a prairie or pasture and that joker gets looking huge and I shoot. Have I misjudged distance before…YES!! So much so I felt bad afterwards despite having a dead bird. I don’t know of a turkey hunter out there that intentionally shoots at 50+ yards.

Limit is one in some states, two in some and 3 in a few so this is not a high volume game unless you hunt lots of different states or ignore the limits.
If you want to duck hunt with TSS, that is a different matter all together.
The ammo companies are making TSS loads for deer now too.

I have never had an issue carrying my supposed heavy 12 gauge, crazy thing they came out with was a gun sling? I have never had trouble maneuvering my clunky gun where I wish I had a kids 20 gauge. Some of the justifications I read for how someone wants their setup by bashing others setup is mind boggling. You like your setup and if you didn’t you’d probably change it? I love my benelli, shooting 3.5”, TSS 7.5’s. I plan on hunting 3-4 states the rest of my days. Oh and been chasing them 40 years my calling is right where I want it!

I've never had an issue carrying mine either and I sure have put in the foot miles. Also have a sling on it. All my long guns do. My 870 is the turkey hunting model...so no maneuverability issues in the heat of the moment.
