I’ve had some egg cultures work for a bit and it’s almost at the stopping point. How do I stop it and fix it in place? Sodium benzoate
? Salt? Appreciate any insight.

To preserve one gallon of bait. I normally use this ratio of preservatives. As a starting point.
One cup SB.
One Oz. MP.
One Half TSP. of Zinc Valerate. ( Optional ).
Hot Water mixed together. The amount of water is up to you? Do not use to much.
I think eggs are pretty easy to preserve? Compared to fish and small animals ground up guts and all.
Fixative? To me Cultured Eggs have a nice musky smell. So I like a fixative that compliments this odor. You might consider civet musk, vanilla, etc.
Good Luck!

Forgive my ignorance but I am not sure what MP is.

Methylparaben, helps prevent mold if I got it correctly remembered.

How do you judge when you stop your egg culture Daniel? Just curious.

From what I have been told and have read on here. When it gets to a thick mayo type consistency.

I was curious because I just made some and it never thickened up. It smelled great, it had changed color, gotten a bit thicker, but was still runny. I decided to stop it where it was, thought it would make a nice liquid lure the way it was. Once I stopped it, it thickened up like pudding in less than a day, really does smell good to my nose anyway. Good luck with yours.

I had to keep mixing it every day. I used a drywall mud mixer on a drill. Mine stayed runny for a while it seemed but once it had a think crust I mixed it longer and noticed the thick layer becoming deeper when I would mix it

It's about that time again!!! We have the PA state show coming up, then my son and I are leaving from there and meeting up with my wife, daughter, and youngest son in Virginia Beach for a week- THEN it's egg culture time!!! I will be doing about 50-60 dozen eggs at least...
