In my part of Minnesota we can’t pre-bait with anything that MIGHT draw deer. It’s in the regs and it’s specific to my area due to chronic wasting disease.

I want to prebait with gland lure to get coon making trails trying to find the stuff. The holders will be 4-5 ft above the ground, in areas they’d be using anyway. Since I snare most of my coon, I’d like to establish more trails. This will be done in late September. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the gland lure to use?

I would build some fenced In spots and fill them with fish. Cut some holes In the fencing so the coon can get In and you could use 160s In those holes.
If you can set up In some high grass areas round up Is your best friend.

Here, I just pre-stake the trail that's already there. I've found that in most cases, it's easier to find an existing trail than to create a new one.

Pre-staking (no trap) means claiming the spot. We can’t leave traps out in the off season. Or (supposedly) flag spots for future use.

I’ll probably hang some lure 4-5 ft off the ground to create some curiosity and set the areas showing lots of tracks heavily on opening day.

Haha, any lure, bait, etc attracts deer down here. Deer beat possums to anything new.

This is what I have done in the past. Works for coyote don't know why it wouldn't work for coon. I wouldn't use lure either. Maybe build your pens now and wait till closer to season to drop in some sweets.

The only time I've ever used gland lure for coons is the late season when the boars are looking for love. At that time of year, I think any brand of gland lure will do, but I've used Boars Delight the most. Good luck.

I was out tonight and putting some gradual blocking in areas I know the coyote and cat squeeze through, will do more when I get a chance.
