How bright are new tritium sights? I just took delivery of a new Sig pistol with tritium sights and I can barely see the glow in a completely dark room. No way can I line them up in the dark because they disappear when I look directly at them - like a dim star in the sky that you can only see in your peripheral vision. I expected them to be bright.

They should be brighter than what you describe...

That's weird , the ones on my sig p320 are pretty bright. Like not the best thing for low light but definitely usable

That doesn’t sound right, the tritium sights on both my Sigs are plenty bright enough to line up in darkness or even dimness. The front dot is brighter than the two rear dots, for purposes of alignment I would assume, so you don’t line up the front dot outside the two rear dots. I wish the front was a different color like some of my other pistols, but…

Different versions of the P365.

Eh...wot?

All my pistols including Sigs have bright night sights. Definitely bright enough to shoot in the pitch black.

I have tritium shotgun beads that start to be visible before it is even dark. Even at the end of a 30” shotgun barrel.
I can see my tritium watch anytime i look at it. If its too dark to easily see the hands the tritium glows. Never glanced at it that I could not tell the time. You must have old tritium. It has a halflife and gets dim after a decade or two. I have a tritium watch I bought in the 1990’s that barely glows now, but for the first 10 or 15 years it t was bright enough to make the watch useable all the time at a glance.

Sounds like my 20 + year old set on my Glock that need replaced. Metro lights are brighter than trijicons when they're new but all of them should be substantially brighter than what you're describing sounds like you got an old set put on that gun

Yep, tritium tends to dull with age. It is usually 15-20 years, in my experience.

Check out Big Dot, if you seek replacements. https://xssights.com/sight-selector-guide/dxt2-night-sights/

They are, hands down, the best I have come across. The lollipop alignment works super quick, easy, and accurate for me.
