Variables used to be bad about point of impact changing when you changed the magnification. I hunted for years with weaver K4's. Worked fine for hunting. My great uncle brought a mauser home from WWII. Has a 2 power scope on it. My cousin owns it now. He has been offered a lot of money for it but when we were kids he killed deer and elk with it.

Ive had a leopold 1-4 power scope on a few different rifles over the past 21 years. It has done great and used on 1 power most of the time.

I put Bushnell Trophy 1.75 - 4 x 32 scopes on all the kids' and ex -wife's rifles. They seem to work fine, harvested a fair amount of deer between them. They're still in use today.

What do you use af far as brand?

Vortex.

What style rifle do you have it on?

AR-15.

For what what purpose/game/style shooting?

Targets, unwanted critters, home defense.

What's your preferred magnification range?

Lowest setting (1) until I need higher magnification.

What's the average distance your shooting?

100 yards and less.

And how often do you used the illumination if yours has it?

Mine has it, but I never use it anymore. I keet forgetting to turn it off when I used to use it and the battery would always die.

Eh...wot?

I have a Leupold 1-4 power on a Ruger 44 magnum carbine and also one on a Remington 870 with a Hastings cantilever slug barrel.
I keep it on 1 power which is great for running shots, but move it to 4 power for longer shots at stationary shots.
At 1 power, it is comfortable for me to keep both eyes open which makes it much easier to stay on target.
When shooting with a scope with magnification, I have to squint my left eye a bit, otherwise my left eye will do all of the seeing instead of my right eye. This is caused by the fact that my eye dominance is shifty due to a floater in my right eye.
At 1 power this does not come into play.

I have the same scope on my Ruger 10/22 and also on my Marlin 30-30.Mine are usually set on 4 power though.

I use 1×8 vortex strike eagles on several ARs. The price isn't bad and for the money they are great. Only certain ARs get the fancy optics.

My oldest boy has one on his AR and does just fine smoking hogs and coyotes.

Leupold on the 10/22 and one of the AR15’s. Max shots are 100yds. Swamp/thick woods hunting hogs and they’re awesome for quick target acquisition and running targets.

Well basically they mainstreamed it . Honestly I'm beyond surprised alot of hunters haven't moved to them since their small light and most hunters love to talk about now wanting anything high powder some they do ... whatever..... But also are getting up there in age and their eye sight isn't the best for irons.

Again really surprised their not more of a common on regular hunting rifles now that their so inexpensive, even for the nicer ones. I mean the more tactical one probably dot look right on a average hunting rifle but the regular capped ones would be perfect

I kinda wish we had LPVOs and a 45 mounted red mounts 20 years ago.

I don’t hunt with it but have been running an Sig Tango 1-8 in conjunction with a red dot sight on an AR. That’s a pretty wicked combo that covers a lot of bases.

Been dealing with a pistol scope for the first time.
There is nothing quick, wide, or easy aiming about it.
Aquisition makes it target only pending more field time.
EER for you shorthand guys.

What am I missing here?
