Looking at a last minute fishing vacation with my wife to the Adirondacks. Looking for some advice, streams/rivers to fish. Anyone know anything about the east and west branches of the Ausable. How is fishing the beginning of July? Also looking for some hike in places whether ponds or streams (hiked Mt. Katahdin 2 years ago and Mt Washington last year and not looking for that kind of hike. Might take our aluminum boat along also to fish some of the bigger lakes. Like to fly fish but spin fish too. Also you guys have been good everywhere we have gone around the country with giving good advice on out of the way places to see and good eats. Totally open as to where to go or where to stay at this point. Thanks

I have never fished the Ausable but have fished many remote Adirondack Brook trout lakes and ponds in the Adirondacks. If you are going to be near the tourist trap called Lake Placid bring a canoe and go to the St Regis Wilderness Canoe Area near Lake Clear, NY.

Depending where you put in, Upper St Regis Lake or Little Clear Pond there are many lake and ponds with Brook and lake trout and spake, even some rainbows. Best if you bring light weight camping gear and stay a couple days. Also, light weight canoe or kayak .
