Wondering about a generator to use with my welder how much amperage do I need. Any one have a make model they like. I have a Tweco 252i welder. I don’t have an outlet at my house and I lost use of the shop I had access to.

Your welder has a rated input of 208/230 v and 39.5 amp = 9.1 kva continuous

You'll need a generator around 12kva to run your welder at full input. I would look toward a Generac brand for a genset of that size.

unless you are using this welder at max it will not pull full rated amps. I run my lincoln 250 wire feed off of my 8k generator all the time. most ofmy welding is less than 3/8 material.
