I spent most summers growing up on Snowy Range Wyoming. Small brooks where you had to sneak up behind a rock or bush and drop a warm in a hole. Even a shadow would spook them.
Now the State opened it up to ATVs everywhere and you can't find a Brookie of any size.

You have to wonder how they can survive a winter in a little stream like that.

Many years ago, I was moose hunting in early October in Newfoundland. Driving back a power line, there was a wet mossy trickle crossing the pole line. Saw several brook trout working their way up the current to spawn. The water wasn’t even a foot wide.

you cant beat them foe eatin,had a few this morning with toast.bugs are out and fishin is good.

Every small ditch and creek here has brook trout.
The kids in the bush keep funnel traps in the creeks and have brook trout every day for breakfast.

June, July with low water and no rain. They'll hit anything.
