So a small town started a farmers market. Many people there it's their first time doing a farmers market. A health department lady shows up not a bad thing until she goes away beyond and not following the law and acting like she has power she doesn't.
Here is an example telling an old lady she can't sell her pickels and how to can her jams. Ok #1 cottage laws in our state allow what she was selling. #2 the old woman has been making that stuff 2x longer than the snot nose health department woman has been alive. Yet the old woman will be Buffalo and cow to the woman's except exceeding her authority not knowing what the law actually says and what it doesn't.
For all those that will say she is doing her job to keep people safe I will toss this out to give you her mind set. " You need a collage degree to be able to safely can food". Lol I know quite a few people with degrees that can't even cook dinner. So just a heads up for the self-sufficient folks to let you know they will be coming in the name of food safety to attack our way of life once again. I heard they have been showing up at other markets harassing people there also.

we have a state senator who attacks every cottage law or home production law in WI any time they are brought up.
guess what he owns a popcorn , baked goods and preserves business.
works to make sure in the name of safety that no one else can compete in his market without a massive up front investment.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Way back in Obama 2nd term there was a farm bill passed by both houses and signed by Obama that made farmers markets illegal. No one said anything about it. That same bill also said if you process your own venison you are considered a meat packing plant Subject to unannounced FDAinspections. How do I know this? I was processing venison for Hunters for the Hungry and got shut down.

You werent processing your own venison....you were processing for consumption by others which may make you subject to inspection. The everyday sportsman butchering their own game for their own consumption is not subject to inspections. If you can find written regulations that show me to be incorrect, please do. Ive been wrong numerous times before, just ask my wife

I think canned food sold to others should be subject to health laws.
I worked for a small seafood market that processed seafood for charter boat customers. We offered a vacuum packing service. We would refuse a request to vacuum pack an order that we did not freeze overnight to stop bacterial growth on their fish. Some customers got mad, but it was for their safety. They said they were going to put the fish in their freezer at the vacation house. We still refused because their freezer could not freeze as quickly as or commercial freezer.
Botulism is deadly.

Botulism is deadly. But see, what you described is how it should work. Your company chose not vacuum seal fish that wasn't frozen first. The government didn't make you do it.

That was In Henryville but has been happening at other farmers markets around the state. It's by design in my opinion. Limit food availability to the big guys and government approved sources. I goes along with your social credit score, purchase tracking on things like ammo, and working toward being able to turn off your ability to buy and sell unless your tow the line.

Well grab hold, kids and their lemonade stands prohibited because kids don't have food handlers card and lemonade not made in an approved kitchen, after Church service socials not supposed the have food available because foods not made in approved kitchens. In both above examples $250.00 fines issued. Yes some Government, in this case (State and Counties) are Totally out of control.

Botulism is deadly. Looks like I'm going to die if I have to take care of my fish this way.

I think canned food sold to others should be subject to health laws. Then dont buy any. I don't want a babysitter. Seems to be a campaign against people earning honest money. In LOTS of areas.
