Little fox ain’t doing good as most of you may have already imagined. Fur is slipping. I’m so mad about it. I tried really hard but I guess he was spoiled from the gate. Stank don’t lie I guess. I’m in a Devil of a mood

Well , you had good intensions to do something with a fur that would have been pitched otherwise. You tried. There will be another opportunity.

Thank you. I try to look at it as a learning experience!

If the skeleton isn't to mangled, you could always strip all the flesh, degrease it and wire it back together.

It doesn't take long for green-belly to set in on canines, even in cooler weather. That's one of the first signs that the skin is starting to break down.

Tough break after all the time, effort and money you put into it.

Eh...wot?

At least you got to donate some more money to the state. Looked like you had a very fresh gray you could have used I saw in some of your other pictures, but seems like you have it to something called a rehabber.

None of my plans tend to work out like I Hope either hate to hear your fox didn't.

A critter freezer is a must for times like that. Sometimes you can find a used one pretty cheap. I have something in mine all the time. Bait, skinned beaver, castor, sometimes whole animals that could not be skinned right away, during trapping season skinned hides waiting til after season to finish, etc.

It’s a learning thing. Like you say, it was probably wrecked by the time you got it. I had a wolf spoiled because of our stupid warm weather. Taxi skinned it anyway (about 8 hours) cuz a guys gotta learn. Got $30usd for it, I’m just glad it sold!….Some spots were missing fur, real bad. The next one was $165 and the others are tanned and I might sell…..maybe..hahaha

For future reference.......There is a product available from taxidermy supply places called Stop Rot that taxis use on questionable capes or pelts that they get. Don't know if your specimen was too far gone for Stop Rot to help or not but it might have given you a better chance for success.

I will say it was a good learning experience and I am eager to try my hand at taxidermy again! An opportunity at a unique specimen was lost but I will try again with an adult that i hopefully will harvest this fall…without stupid FLIES

Hey, that little guy got in a lot of mileage even after his demise on the road, to the tune of at least 6 pages, lol. He is probably running a flimsy wall in a vineyard someplace looking for grapes.

Tomorrow is ahead of us and yesterday is behind us !
