Just buried my wife's milk goat. I'm sure I'll be digging another hole as well. Came home from working away from home for the entire week. Goats are mowing the yard when I pulled up. I thought, oh that's nice. Now have a dead goat another soon to be, and 4 orphan kids. I gave her the jab and it seemed to help in the moment, plan b costs 25 cents, but my wife says no. I can't watch. It'll be a miracle if survives. Summer on a ranch is hard on animals.

If you want to haul them goats to some good KS grazing my yard has plantain, hen bit, clover, lamb quarter, dandelion, horseradish and a mulberry tree they could easy climb for leaves and mulberries. I am already tired of mowing. Could feed two big or 3-4 little goats.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

The rumen was full of straw. Apparently they were eating on the bale of straw that had seed in it when my wife let them out to graze yesterday. I assume they were going for the seed, and eating the straw along with it. I hope my wife learned a lesson today. We've never had anything like this happen before. Two of our three does dead in one day.

Bloat. Wife let them out to graze and a couple of them ate on a bale of straw. Killed them dead. Figured it out after I put down the second one and cut open it's stomach.

Can't they just cut a good fart? That is what I do and it feels amazing.

I have nothing clever to put here.

You can use a heavy gauge hypodermic needle, such as a 16, to save a badly bloated goat. It works on rabbits too. Just poke it into the rumen and let the air flow out. It stinks to high heaven. Keep your head back. If the goat is not in real bad shape, you can run some plastic tubing down their throat. I've only poked them.

I did both, she was just about dead when I ended her suffering. She was packed full of straw. Stupid animals. I thought goats were hardier than that. A real bummer. One was already dead, the other I tried to save, but it was too late.

Get ya some sheep.
They won’t take nearly as long to lay down and die!
I don’t know sickum about goats. Just figured they were tough as nails.

After watching a couple of goats clean up an old overgrown hedge row I figured they could eat anything and survive.

I thought so too. We have a heard of sheep. Two ewes produced 5 lambs. The two goats produced 5 kids, and we sold the only doe kid. We have three cows produced 3 calfs. Having a herd like that there's bound to be a problem here or there. Yesterday sucked.
