Took the girls and my lovely wife down to Ft Morgan for a much needed vacation. Girls had a blast catching crabs. Too hot for many sand crabs to be out so knee deep in the surf and they had some fun.




No crabs were harmed in making of this post. All were photographed and released

One year we timed it perfectly by acedent and we were able to scoop up countless huge blue crabs with a dip net out of the surf. And caught a couple hundred in traps all on the west end of the island. That year my son was about 6 .him and another boy would catch ghost crabs all day and battle them on the deck when we came in at night.

About 50 years ago my buddy caught some crabs and he didn't think it was any fun!!

Sharks are patrolling down there pretty hard right now, better stay out of the shallow water. Woman lost a hand in panama city beach last week.

Kids left yesterday. Me and my wife staying 4 more days to get over the kids !! Lol

Hey 'byrd...You may know all this, but just a little east of you is Doc's where you can get some really good fried shrimp.

Also Cactus Cantina (get the shrimp & grits.)

Just north of you in Foley is Lamberts, great country food!...Enjoy your trip!

Know where Ft. Morgan is, have to do work out there from time to time, brother own's condo's at the Beach Club. Same water, same sharks, lol.

We go to Dauphin Island - isnt that straight west of Ft Morgan? Over the bay on the ferry?

Good deal 'byrd, ...Wife & I were at Orange Beach a couple wks ago, and there was a music festival over at Gulf Shores, so things got a little rowdy at night after 10 p.m. or so, Lol.

Weather has been unreal gorgeous every day. Low humidity and mid 80’s. One day was hot because only 5 mph winds. Humidity today was 60%.

Yep you can ride the ferry across the bay to Dauphin Island. Neat your staying at the beach club, love that ice cream shop they have!

Omg the creamery is so good. We been getting a scoop of moose tracts and coffee flavored ice cream every night. Just found out they are closed on Monday!!
