Resign means to "retire, quit, voluntarily give up job", I think you meant re-sign, which means "to sign again or renew a contract". I have a bunch of ex pat Pennsylvanian friends and have learned their version of the English language, but still harass them about it occasionally! Example: "I'll be there till 1:00" which actually means the opposite of what he is trying to say, which is "I'll be there by 1:00" etc, etc...
