Yes.......where is that C60 truck now? Fold up stock racks. Clearance lights. Serious bling!

Truck now replaced with dump trailer with hoist. I'm told 7 Amish lads showed up yesterday to pull up storm damaged roof and put down new all in one day. They get after it.

Wonder if it had the hi/lo button on the shifter? In the 60's even school buses had those.

Still hard to wrap your head around how that must have worked, deep down in the guts of a transmission.

Did a lot of roofs when I used to work construction back in 80s.
Heights didn’t bother me as much when I was a younger man. Then watched one of my coworkers go off the edge of slick sheathing and he lit on his feet. Shattered both ankles and they didn’t think he would walk again. He’s better today though but it got my attention.
So, well, I changed careers and love what I do for last 34 + years. And as for doing my own roof, well they have professionals out there and I am happy to pay them.

I’ve been doing all sorts of roofing for close to 50 years, slate, asphalt shingles, EPDM, hot tar, steel…

I slowed down a little when I hit my mid 60s but I still do some.

I do occasionally like to take a break and pose for pictures.

Did my share roofing back in the 80s hand nailed most of them. Did a few with old H4 staples if remember them.
Decided had lesser chances of falling or injury if went into fire fighting. Never was called a stud doing either. Did some sketchy stuff doing both yet here I am.
I'm pretty sure most the roofs I did have been replaced by now. I know my own house I've done twice since I lived here.. No way I will be doing it the next time.

Even though Dad's day job was accounting his side gig was roofing. I can still hold a fistful of roofing nails in the left and flip out one between my first two fingers positioned just right.

Never would say I was a stud roofer but between Dad sending me up ladders as soon as I was old enough to tote a bundle up a ladder and me going into framing houses I will say that that I'm a worn out roofer and framer, lol.

I helped a crew do a 400 foot long dairy barn when worked at the dairy. I was amazed how fast they could lay shingles and nail. My job was hauling bundles up. I was 25 at the time and the roofers were in their mid 50's. I thought it would be easy to keep up to a couple of "old guys". They made me look like a chump by the end of the day grin

Interesting collar-ties.
Do you have much of a snow-load? What kind of roofing material?
