Anyone experience trapping hairless marmot/groundhog/woodchuck? If so any ideas what the cause could be, do know when finally get it in trap will be using all kinds of additional safety precautions.

Ugly looking critter

I've caught some that looked like they had mange.

Mange is what I was thinking so instead of just burying it this one might get cremated. Gotta get rid of burn pile anyhow.
Definitely be wearing disposable gloves and plastic bagged for transport as family dog rides in back of truck and not taking any chances.

Was it a young female?

Not sure how young but yes while alive it was a female, teats had been nursed, now mixed in with pile of ashes, was also severely infested with fleas

I had a completely hairless groundhog chase after me when I was a kid. Well, I thought it was chasing me, but then it began running head on with trees, then ran in circles before I could ease its pain. It was skin and bones and I couldn't even tell that it was a groundhog until I saw its teeth. Creepy doesn't even begin to describe that whole experience.

Sounds like Rabies or Distemper.

Biologist determined it was mange

I hear opossums can get a disease that causes them to loose there hair. Not sure if this is what this guy had or not. I just wanted it gone as fast as possible.
