I won’t argue and this will step on some religious toes but there is a difference between sinners and those that have called on the name of Jesus and been saved and have been made a new creature (2 Cor. 5:17) and have been made righteous (2 Cor. 5:21) and have been made citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven (Eph. 2:19).
Sinners are those whose spiritual state is dead to God, they have not yet received from Him the provision of His life and nature He made available to them in Jesus. It is NOT from the way they live but Adam passed that spiritual sin nature to every person except Jesus. Their sinning is a by product from their thinking and believing which comes from that dead nature.
Those who have called on the name of the Lord (Rom. 10:13) their spiritual state changed (John 3:16). Now does that mean that the spiritual state change changes everything about them? No, this is where Rom. 12:2, Eph. 4:22-24, James 1:21) come into play. Now we are to take that spiritual change and change our way of thinking, believing and living with it I.E. (Matt. 4:17) but just because a born again person sins (act) does not make them a sinner (state). Sins (1 John 1:9) is lifestyle where sinner is spiritual state. State change is God’s doing, the lifestyle change is us working together with Him (John 14:15)(Phil.2:12)(1 Cor. 3:9)(Mark 16:20)(Matt. 1:21) His people (spiritual state changed) from their sins (lifestyle of sin they always have known)
But if we as believers in Christ Jesus never change how we see ourselves (from being a sinner dead to God to being righteous before Him in Christ 2 Cor. 5:21) we will never live the way God has for us to live (Pro. 23:7).
As far as (Rom. 3:23), yep all have sinned cause Adam passed that spiritually dead nature to all man but read the next verse (Rom. 4:24).
Apologize for the long post, I just hear Christians say all the time they are a sinner and if what the Bible says is true then it is kind of a slap in God’s face. The church as a whole has become to religious and left what the Bible says and not taught people the heart of God, just what I believe has happened. Now if you think I am off my rocker that’s fine let’s just stay at peace with each other (whoever is reading this) but might be something to ask the Lord about and see what He says. Ok I will go back to the trapping section now 😁.
