After only two days incorporating some cardio, by BP readings are improving! Is that possible or just coincidence? I really need an exercise regimen and I always balked at it because I’m on my feet working all day and wrestling with animals. But I guess it’s still important

For me salt intake is something that really affects daily fluctuations in BP. But exercise has a positive impact.

Potassium intake is a biggie also. Make sure you are getting enough.

I hardly ever salt my food even when cooking most times. Pepper is another story!!!

Usually always lower after exercise. If you check it as soon as you get up you will find some of the highest readings of the day. Afternoons & evening will give lower readings but try to be consistent when checking.

Felt pretty lousy yesterday when I checked mine. Super dizzy. BP was 88/39 it is usually considerably higher than that. Once my heart restarted I felt better smile

The body needs an amount of salt. The adrenals soak it up like a sponge to revitalize energy . Salt is a vital ingredient for electrolyte balance. So a little salt is needed for feeling good , and not experiencing adrenal exhaustion.

My BP reads well , and I use good quality salt when needed. Granted, some can handle salt amounts better than others. But overall, salt is vital for the adrenal system to revitalize itself in energy felt, and in electrolyte mix drinks. Just like the benefits of real fats , not the synthesized ones, myths abound in many things that people for generations have realized as good to use in moderation.

Exercise is good for everything. Weight lifting . A mix of cardio and weights is the best. Makes one feel on top of the world.

You get plenty of salt in the food you eat every day.

HBP is caused by a high carb diet. You cant exercise your way out of it Thats how heart attacks happen with the rise of the couch potato.

Salt is an important electrolyte our body needs to survive. They did a study of countries that had the highest salt intake and believe it or not that country had the lowest heart disease of all of them.

It realy don't take much of diet adjustment, if you stay away from just a few problem foods like grains and sugar drinks, also fasting helps alot. I fast every day by just skipping breakfast and lunch.

The American Heart Association blaming salt and cholesterol is a bad joke, and their food pyramid is a lie.

What a coincidence this post is. I just went Monday for a physical and didn't do that hot on the BP. My average after 3 times with the auto machine 148/101. I asked them to check it the manual way and it was the same reading. That's not too good and I'm on BP medicine already. I got my dose doubled now and I know I need to start exercising and eat better. I also work 12 hour shifts about 4 days a week so that's going to change. It's voluntary right now anyway. I'll exercise in the mornings before I go into work and try to get it down.
Another thing that doesn't help is I'm high strung and my mind is always running. I worry about everything and can't let stuff go. I wonder when my stroke or heart attack will be not if I'll have one. Only 1 person in my family has lived past 71, I hope to make it 2 or more but not sure that'll happen. That's parents, uncles, aunts and grandparents.

Stress is a major contributor to HBP. Extended stress leads to cardiac issues ... ask me, how I know.

I have doctored for heart disease for many years, I never had a doctor tell me to increase my salt intake. I have been told to watch my sodium intake and I am supposed to be on a low sodium diet. There is a difference between sodium and salt. About the only thing I know is if you want to increase your sodium intake use plenty of salt. There was a time in my early years that I salted just about everything, since my late 20's I seldom use a salt shaker. I take my blood pressure every day, sometimes more than once. I am currently battling low BP, I am on meds to increase it and for the past 5 months it has been much better. It seems strange to me that sodium intake can be harmful for both high and low blood pressure. My wife has high blood pressure and she really has to watch her sodium intake.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Here is a doctor that will tell you to eat as much salt as your want.
