I will be eating eggs, butter, chicken beast, rice, broccoli, asparagus as main staples now. Water or water with lemon to drink.

The amount of animal fat you eat has nothing to do with cholesterol levels. Cholesterol is produced in your liver. Like salt fat is good for you.

There is also a link between low fat diets/ statins and Alzheimers .

the fats that protect your nerves are considered bad cholesterol and stripped by statins , can't imagine why there would be a link can you.

rice is still sugar/carbs so limit that as well.

because sugar and carbs go to your blood to be used or turned into fat , try and only eat the carbs before you are planning to go use them.

this would be like drink the beer then go push the mower around the yard and have water when your done.

if you think of it like you are metering the carbs like a carburetor , you want to put the equiptment away , you , with as little extra fuel in the bowl as possible.

I hope you can stick it out longer than just for the weekend.

If you are anything like me, you will get a real strong craving for sweets in the evening; like the urge to run to the grocery store for a jelly donut.

The only thing a little difficult sticking to this low carb diet, is it is more expensive; carbs are cheap.

Whoa! Rice is loaded with carbs. Look out for that one. That can keep you on the carb wagon!

I've done it before. I lost 30 lbs in 3 months with almost no exercise. Sugar is my worst enemy. Sodas are a Killer for me. Just giving up the sugar makes a huge difference. Carbs from a cup of rice at lunch is nothing compared to carbs from sodas and processed foods for me.

Just so you know and you're counting them. I was afraid you didn't know. All carbs including starches become the same blood sugar, but at different rates and at different levels depending how much you take in and how long they take to digest. Pure sugars hit your bloodstream faster, as starches can take a little longer to break down and translate into blood sugar. As long as you know your numbers, you're good.

Mixed nuts without peanuts is a better snack, Peanuts are a legume. Legumes have too many carbs in them.

Rice and potatoes due to starches are also best to eat after being cooked and put in the fridge for 12 or more hours.

If you go completely carb free, don't be afraid to eat more of the carb-free food if you find yourself feeling hungry. You will still lose weight.
Carbs fire up your pancreas which dumps insulin, which converts everything that you eat (including non-carb food) into fat reserves.
It will be 2 weeks before your system adjusts to the no carb change. You may feel like you are being poisoned. After 2 weeks you should start feeling amazing. The carb cravings will go away.
I don't think of it as a diet. I think of it as a plan. When you diet, you have to limit how much you eat. With this plan, you can eat as much as you want as long as there are no carbs.

I made my goal yesterday. The only sugar I had for the whole day was a little bit of ketchup and about 5 cherries.

For folks who are unfamiliar with this subject, we should clarify that low carb and keto diets are not zero carb diets. There are carbs in all the best low carb vegetables and other foods and they add up over a day. The goal is to keep net carbs (total carbs minus fiber) under a goal number, which should be fairly strict right in the beginning of a diet like this, just to jump start the process. Several of the classic low carb diets set a goal for that initial strict start to be at 20 grams of net carbs a day. The carbs present in low carb foods can add up to that really quickly.

I'm not quitting carbs. Just sugar and processed foods.

The biggest problem I see is the lack of dependable information out there and how few realistic solutions are available to a person. If you listen to what everyone out there is telling you then a diet of tree bark and water would be your only options. LOL People have different issues to address so there is no one diet is the answer.

I don’t do sugar in any excessive ways so no raw sugar, sweets, sodas or candy for me. I do limit a lot of things in moderation because I need to eat like anybody else just humans over do it quite a bit. I need food and I need variety in my diet everything will kill you so pick your poisons but be smart about it.

The wife bought a book on diabetes from the main American Diabetic Association that made absolutely no sense to me you would think after years of endless research they would have came up with something useable.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

A LOT of money for insulin ozympic trulicity metformin etc. If something as simple as no sugar no potatoes no grain could get me off all diabetes meds (I had been taking ALOT) and almost all high blood pressure meds, money is the reason its not being taught. A lot of money in obesity too. Telling people its a disease genetic blah blah blah. Mine was the result of endless hunger from taking simvastatin.
