We are now approaching 35 trillion. How much more debt can the country sustain before it would collapse? I remember a number of years ago they said the U.S. couldn’t handle 20 trillion and now it’s approaching twice that amount. Is there a formula or something used to predict when it could occur? Please don’t make it political.

I think they say that for propaganda to the people. Currency isn't real money anyway. What can anyone do about it anyway?

Congress gotta quit spending money they don't have, and never will! All GGG Grand Kids will still be trying to pay it off.

It'll never be paid off. Once we got off gold and into fractional lending, it was over. Just don't know when. Every fiat currency in history has failed.

Some use a measure of debt to gross national product. The bigger the economy, the bigger the debt we can afford. Problem is, the economy can shrink faster than the debt.

As long as foreign countries want to buy our government bonds, I suppose we can prop up the federal government.

We need the line-item veto so the pork can be trimmed from spending bills. Until then, Congressmen just pile on their local projects. The debt bothers me too.

Federal reserve is a private business.
How can a business keep it's doors open if someone owes you more than you give out?

Because it's all fiat make believe. iou's. Fiat currency is actually debt once its put into circulation. To be paid back plus tax. That's why it says federal reserve note at the top. It used to say silver certificate.

You think we're paying for the war in Ukraine. Maybe some money is, bur lots is just being laundered to come back to the politicians.

Defense spending accounts for about 13% of the federal budget.

This year we will spend more on servicing the debt than the military.

No chance this country will do what is necessary to reign it in. Only hope is to monetize it through inflation
