Got lazy an decide to skip all work of dip traps an carry an hang backyard an remove dip from trigger area, always dip before but last season was minium use of traps so 2 cans spray ultra flat is enough, don't have engrave on tag exposed to paint an stack traps on top each other on cardboard so overspray hits metal an turn, no removal of paint from trigger area an dry immediately, u can't get all of metal with spray paint, what is better in rust, paint or dip? Paint won't stop rust , heavy surface rust

I just picked up some F1 and some white Pro Dip. Love it. Was going to paint my 330s but was way more of a pain for me than just giving them a quick dunk. Finishing off with a dip in FMJ.

Why would u dip them white ?

I spray paint mine. I don't have very many to do every year so its easy enough.

Some ones that used Last season an dip last summer, don't need nothing this year

I like to paint dip. Oil based Rust-Oleum thinner out with acetone. Gives it a good base for camo jobs on coins. Thinner coat it a bit better first go then hit it again

I decided about 5 years ago I’m done with painting traps. When I get old and want to tinker around in the garage, then I’ll probably dip and paint some traps here and there. But for now I have no problem catching animals in dirty rusting traps.

The ones I've done were done like this.

The rust can transfer to the fur and permanently stain the fur,
especially with body grips.

For sure! Had some new 330s I wanted to use a season before treating. The golf course job last fall was brutal, lots of iron in that water. But JP doesn’t water trap, ocopogo and other nasty creatures in there…right JP?…..lol

I like to take better care of my equipment than that.

I only wax land footholds (learned from Bob W) no dye or stain or paint or dip

I spray paint all body grippers, sued to speed dip with white kerosene but its messy and you need perfect conditions, a HOT and low humidity day with a good breeze to do it right

Logwood for me and wax for double coils

You get better coverage dipping them.

Spray paint them and hang em outside. First couple wet mornings you’ll know the spots you missed!

Yard sale/thrift shop spray paint for me. Also pick up oil based metal canned paint and thin for dipping.
Too expensive in retail places. 7.99 /can for spray rustoleum is too much!

Maybe if the rust is powdery. The rust on my traps are like another color painted onto the traps though.

Try using Mineral Spirits instead of acetone, it cheaper in the long run as it doesn't evaporate anywhere as quick as acetone. You can do a lot more traps with mineral spirits. Might take a little longer to dry but I dip and hang them up and in the heat of the summer here they dry pretty quick.

Here's a tip if you have left over dip. Clean the top and lid of the paint can good and put the left over dip in it and seal it back up really good. Invert the can and make sure it doesn't leak and store it this way. Next time you open the can to use the "skin" or scum/dried paint is on the bottom of the can and the top is good to go.

Dipping in paint would be best, can't get everything with spray can, ok to do this season though, speed dip runs off rust I notice before, not sure what is best if anything for existing rust, wax them an no dip might be best

Dipping/paining is all going to depend on water ph.

F 1 does not work in NW WA,,,,I believe the acidic and Brackish water.

Spray paint is done with better job on connibears
