Juneteenth was celebrated by a tiny percentage of people in Texas and virtually nowhere else, until the Republicans started gaining black voters and the democrats needed something to cause racial division.

I think our concept of race makes little sense. It completely ignores that you can have children that society says are another race than you, even though are literally half you.

Eric is my cousin. It's genetically undeniable. Yet society says I'm white and he's Hispanic, like we are 2 very different things, when in proven fact we are family. I have family that I undeniably share DNA with that are considered by society, white, black, Asian, Hispanic and Native American. We are just family.

I think making a big deal of race just makes people dislike each other.

Long story short it irritates me on a few levels.
First it's been a thing for a long time , but it's been like a small regional thing, so I wanna kick someone in the teeth when they start trying to says it's not real, made up or fake. Just because you never heard of it doesn't make it fake. Like if I said all the lil mini holidays other ethnicities do are fake because I never heard about them. It's a brain dead argument
Second it irritates me because it was nationalized as a publicity stunt . Now you got all these random black influencer yuppies who never cared now acting like it's the most important thing ever and " omg our people are finally yadda yadda"

Also stuff like this always brings out the smooth brained idgets who's comments make my brain cells burn sooo yeah

Also gotta say I don't really feel it's causing any division unless people are just so petty and easily offended that their not being the special lil snowflake of the day. Like seriously you come to me and say , "o hay they just made today Italian American day " id honestly just friggen shrug say K good for them and go on about my day. You you getting bent outta shape for it for anything past the fact places shut down or soem.kinda government tax stuff then you need something help.

I feel like the same conversation about Juneteenth happens here every year, and every year people get mad that we celebrate freedom in America.

I was scheduled to be off but decided to work 12 on nights and am looking forward to making it 16hrs with an out late. You know, part of the plan. Make money, pay off all debt, invest heavy, and finally retirement and be free at last free at last I will thank God almighty that free at last.

I lean to the direction of Keith about it being about division. But I didn't grow up being told the white man is puttin what been keeping my family down and all whites are racist. I swear I work with and one of my best friends is black never hear crap like that from him. He grew up in the deep south. Other black guy I worked with well is one of the biggest racist I ever met. Night and day difference in their mind set.

I also was not raised thinking blacks or Hispanics we're some how less than whites. Infact mom had a few Foster kids in the house that were black and would have adopted them had she had the chance they still call her mom when they call and in their 20's now.

I have worked with a few white racist still have to work with one at times. I can't stand his out of place comments and try to avoid having to work with him. But he was raised like that.

The common factor it I don't like racist white, black, or any other race though I have not been around enough other races to run across their racist I'm sure every race has them.

Anything that divides instead of builds up and brings together is not a good thing. Dr. King had it right judgement by actions and character not skin color.

I believe what makes it dividing are the typical news and talking heads blowing up the story and all the craziness added to the mix the last several years.

Another holiday cool. Be nice if I would get it counted and paid as such. I like double time and a half. I tend to work every holiday I'm offered.

I am for being off on Wednesday. I am driving 180 miles into North Carolina to bring back the entire chassis/drivetrain from a '52 Chevrolet truck so that I can put all of the sheet metal from my '52 on it and end up up with one sweet looking truck.
I didn't know why they were giving me off until yesterday. I haven't thought about it since yesterday neither. Won't worry about it tomorrow neither.
I believe that I am in the same school of thought as Wolfie. That is, what it is in celebration of is alright I guess, but the political posturing which made it nationwide seems disingenuous, but as I said, I don't give two spits about it either way.
