DON’T think you can consolidate gas and Diesel taxes to obtain a $.40 per gallon tax. The highway tax for one is not added to the other.

In my state the DOT highway division is funded from highway taxes and vehicle titling fees. Car are more efficient now and lasting longer, and cars are more fuel efficient. Both put a squeeze on construction funding for DOT.

St. Louis County gas stations are already jammed up with Vehicles from El-Annoy! Tobacco and Alcohol too, but they have no personal property tax.
Another thing they do is: Buy an identical pair of vehicles, split the plates between them and live in MO, for 1/2 the plate cost'. Mo cop's have no way to check.

When I lived in IL it was full of potholes I can do 60 mph on gravel here and I pay way less in taxes it’s about the money not the repairs that come slowly.

We pay no state income taxes on pension or ss . I’ve compared property taxes to Missouri they are cheaper but when you add personal property taxes it’s not much different, as for pot holes yes our roads are built on loamy soil and not rock bluffs my roads are truck width wide in this area get in the ditch when you meet a tractor lol
