When I had a cysto done, they put me out for it since I was young enough that I wasn't a risk to wake up again. If they can't put you under, it won't be comfortable.

I get the cysto every 3 years, as I have a neo-bladder from putting off going to get looked at 17 yrs ago.
The anticipation is worse than the actual procedure as the only nerves involved are in the glans
And remember, the medical staff has seen hundreds if not thousands of those things, so just go with a good attitude and it will be done quick
Good luck, keeping you in our thoughts that it's nothing serious.
And gor everybody else, be a man and get checked, if not for you then for those who you love

Howdy Coonman. I had bladder cancer roughly 17 years ago. Had absolutely no pain or sickness, but one day lots of blood in urine. The worst part of the cysto is when they push the trap door open that goes into your bladder, then when they move the scope around to see different areas of the bladder. You may wince a bit but then it's all finished in maybe three minutes. You might pee a few air bubbles afterward but no big deal.
The worste part of the procedure for the removal of the pimple sized cancer growth was having to use a cathetor for three days. Then follow up cystos every three months the first year, every six months the second year, then once a year for a couple more years. Now I get one evry few years and hardly feel it anymore.
Good luck to you! We're u in hospital for 3 days when had it remove?

They remove cancer an went home that day ? I just got estimate of bill. If no ins pay it, $4900 something for short appt with scope, for eye appt this week, 2800 if no ins is what charge is not to come across sounding like I am belittling you, but really, your worried about 5 grand? when its your health........................................it COULD be cancer, could be an infection, could be a kidney stone that is rattling around still small enough to not be painful but big enough to be slicing your kidney apart. yea yea I get it, money is tight, but if the medical facility you are going to doesnt have a social work or ombudsman there to help you with the costs, then go somewhere that does. let me tell you, i was peeing blood for 2 days finally went to hospital and was immediately placed in a trauma room had a catheter in there in seconds, had blot clots coming out tumor had filled my bladder after i got stabilized, about 5 days, the doc went in and lazered the tumor out, but the damage was done. 2 months later i was in surgery for removal of the bladder, prostate, a section of urethra and a bunch of lymph nodes. I was 47............................................ 47, one of the youngest people recorded to have had bladder cancer, and one of the youngest to have a neo-bladder. it aint no joke bro, go, get checked out and this goes for the rest of you all too

Oh man Trapper Red very sorry to hear about your ordeal. I was only 41 and I thank God often that mine was discovered early and removed before ruining my bladder.
I didn't have insurance back then but luckily had some savings in the bank. Got big discounts for paying different things in advance but still paid nearly ten k when all said and done. Dang dude, 41........... As you were probably told like myself, bladder cancer is an old man disease Saw my urologist back in January, he's seeing more and more guys in late 40s and 50s now. It's only 1 of the cancers when caught early responds to treatment well
