I'm not saying it never has happened just that I've never heard of any. Maybe black beaver actually need forests to be found in overall higher beav populations. I wonder if any of the black beaver caught make cornstalks and mud dams...? My trapping partner got one in farm country this year. His 2nd black in a year. Just a genetic thing we have a pretty good number of them around here but all our beaver are darker than out west. Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.
