A scumbag scammer will call you and tell you that you failed to show up for Federal jury duty and failed to call in and tell them why, BUT, go to Wally World and buy a Bit Coin at the kiosk and send it to ? and bring the receipt to the sheriff's office, and "we'll forget about it"!

I get a lot of scammer texts and calls, but the most prevalent and annoying texts and calls are from the people wanting to buy my parent's and my house. I had 11 contacts from them in one day recently.
Keith My wife has been getting emails similar. They even followed up with a real letter in the mail with a purchase agreement offer to sign and send back (a rediculously low-ball offer of course). As Jalstat mentioned, probably a lot of folks, especially the vulnerable elderly , fall for a lot of these scams. Those scammers are the lowest of lows in my book.

best thing one can do is keep these scammers on the hook as long as possible.

I’m getting a lot of notices in my emails saying I have a delivery coming from places I’ve not ordered from ever.

I’m getting a lot of notices in my emails saying I have a delivery coming from places I’ve not ordered from ever. And I report every one of them as phishing and then block the sender. I know they can just use another address but it does not take but a couple extra clicks versus just deleting them. And over time, I do not seem to be getting as many as I used to get.

Just got a notice from the local bank “ that’s not the local bank” asking if I spent $1,500 I called the bank and deleted the message without replying. I don’t even have any accounts there but they had my phone number.

Go to YouTube channels such as Kitbogo and Scammer Payback and watch how they turn the tables on the scammers. Many times they can hack into the scammers systems and show the face of the scammers to themselves. They play with the scammers sounding like old ladies until they are able to get the information they want from the scammers. Many of the scammers are from India and these guys are many times able to show the pictures of the exact locations the scammers are operating out of. The scammers usually explode with foul language once they know they have been conned.

A local guy here just got scammed out of $55,000 on a phony back hoe deal. Well, no one in their right mind would pay $55,000 for a back-hoe anyway; sort of makes sense.

Calls by phone can often be avoided by just letting your answering service record them . Scammers won't leave messages , that I've ever known of. There are those that mimic familiar numbers , like family or friends, to get you to answer ...that would be hard, unless you listened to them begin their message and can then pick up .
Texts would be a pain, I'm sure.
I feel bad for trusting people, such as seniors, that fall for this nonsense. Those cons need to be thrown from a Huey at high altitudes.
That's the advice given by authorities, to let your answer machine pick up suspicious calls or numbers you don't recognize. They will leave a message if it's a legitimate caller. It also leaves the scammer wondering if they called a working number since there was no response to their call.
Got a gift from my brother. It was 3 AA batteries with a note that said, Gift Not Included.
