Trappers are bout the smartest people on earth. So I am coming here for advice. I have 4 big shoulder mount deer head mounts. All Deer are 10 points or bigger. Score from 144 to 158.
I am going to be moving them 500.00 miles. These are the problems I face…..
1….my truck is a little 6 foot bed 4 Cylinder Toyota Tacoma with a lid covering the bed not a shell a lid. I have 18 1/2 inches from bottom of bed to ceiling of lid when closed. I Don’t want to take the truck lid off.I don’t think there will be enough room under the closed lid to put them In bed of truck I guess I could measure them but all most positive will not fit.
2…I have a small 4x8 foot utility trailer with 52 inch sides I could put them in and haul them to we’re I am going.
3….if I use the trailer I was thinking about screwing in 1 good size screw through a 1/4 inch pc of 2 x2 foot but 1/4 inch foot piece of plywood on each deer mount back then placing the deer and plywood back in trailer noses facing up. You think 2x2 square would be a big enough square to keep the deer heads riding flat on the trip ? . I would put a small light wait tarp over them or some cheap sheets. Would only haul
On a nice clear day with no chance of rain
3….. my only real other option would be maybe rent a UHaul van and try to haul them and drop them Off in the room and drive empty fan back home. It would cost a fortune I bet to rent a UHAUL van for a 500 mile trip each way. I am In a tough spot with these darn things.
I am a old guy and would like to keep them but hand writing is on the wall , maybe time to let them go to auction. I don’t want too.
Your thoughts on what to do. Marty
