Do you trappers have any organized animal rights groups there? How much pressure do you get from them or just anti trapping people? Thanks for any input.

Defenders of wildlife may still be the biggest bunny hugger group here. Seems dog owners and road system people are the big problem area these days in Alaska on the road system.

What Dirt said, plus Center For Biological Diversity will attach thier name to anything anti-trapping or anti-hunting.
Juneau is a whole nother story. Anti groups galore.

Just doing what I want now.

Who would have thought? Crazy to me that others infringe on a life style that has survived/depended on wildlife.

Let's not forget Paul Joslin and Alaska Wildlife Alliance. They made a real hard push to do away with wolf management in AK and even tried to get a seat on the AK Board of Game.

Pete remembers all that I am sure.
Also.....I suspect Gulo can't count the number of law suits he has endured from wolf advocates in AK

Yes, there are several groups that put proposals before our Board of Game that are weighed and decided upon on each cycle.

As far as actually having to deal with anti trappers, I haven’t personally ever had to deal with one in the field. I have however had some as neighbors who quit being friendly after they figured out that I trap. No loss on my part….

I trap in a more remote area so anti trappers haven't been an issue but I've heard stories from folks who trap near urban areas and or public use areas that had issues. Fur is still very popular and is something you see on a regular basis during the winter even in the urban areas, when I see someone wearing fur I like to thank them for supporting trappers. Anti trapping proposals are common so it's important to be involved as well as support your trappers associations to counter these individuals/ groups.
