So, talking to my BIL and I’ve never left pressure in my air compressor after I use it. He said it doesn’t matter. What are the opinions from you folks.

Mine has pressure 24/7. 5hp, 60 gallon tank. My first one lasted around 20 years until the compressor got too much play in the bearings and kept throwing the belt. My current one is about 10 years old now with no issues.

Contractor for nearly 40 years, compressors of various types, brands, and sizes. drain occasionally, unless using one for any sort of spraying, due to water. Get water buildup in the tank, and is sometimes rusty water, but never had a tank failure. And I seriously doubt a tank will go BOOM. In the unlikely event a tank rusted to the point it couldn't hold air pressure, it would simply leak. The tank wouldn't suddenly explode.
Just doing what I want now.

it very much does happen , thin tanks , rusted tanks
One of the most dangerous tools in your shop. I made a post on this about a year or so ago. Spend $50 at lowes and get yourself an auto bleeder for the bottom of the tank. Here's a video of a little one that exploded.
