F&G called and asked if they could give my name and number to a landowner with a ground squirrel infestation. Sounds like shooting is not an option. These are not the little 13 stripe variety but the larger, what I know as red diggers, about half the size of a prairie dog.

I know the foot trap upside down over the hole works good on the little ones. I’m curious if the same would work with these. Maybe a 1 1/2 coil or long spring. Not sure how urban this may be and it sounds like way too many for the few small cage traps I have.

I’ll know better when the client calls but would prefer to have them dead and out of view of neighbors/passerbys. I have a fair number of 110s as well.

Thanks for any insight. Never had ground squirrels to deal with when I was doing control work in the past.

Trail cameras and fresh snow have broke a lot of trapper’s hearts.

never trapped groundsquirrels but ive used victor 110s to trap crawfish about the size of a mouse so im sure a 110 would work.
