The people who called me certainly weren't a fan of the bears actions, thats for sure. It's a good thing the bear didn't poop while he was rummaging through the cottage !!! w

Years ago when we took a bunch of kids to Philmont Scout camp, they had a saying........"a fed bear is a dead bear". Once a bear found food at a campsite, it would keep coming back. While we were there they trapped one troublemaker and hauled it 50 miles away, and it was back the next day.
They also told us the fine for killing a bear in NM was $500, so if you were careless and let it get into your food, you were responsible for them having to kill it and you would get the fine. Doubt that was ever the case, but not wanting to find out the hard way, we did take it serious. And they were around. Just our group alone had two close encounters. Eventually dealing with the bears 24/7 took the fun out of completely.
Easy to vote your way into socialism, but impossible to vote your way out of it.

Every few years one here learns that people= food. Oh well. 40,000 bears in ontario alone, we aren't running out

I like bear meat better than racoon meat.
although if I butchered all the raccoon that I caught this year I would be at bear weight.
my wife has zero interest in racoon for supper ever.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I've honestly never eaten coon I have tried it once , it wasn't bad , mid size female , in December , caught near the river. it is a lot of work for ok meat it reminded me of turkey leg for texture I would put it in the beats starving but isn't my first choice.
