The maple Spam in pancake batter and fried then dipped in maple syrup was delicious! I could almost taste the diabetes!

SPAM has been in many breakfasts, lunches, and suppers here. It’s not the first choice, but I can’t turn it down.

Laughing at the people who think they were poor because they grew up eating spam. Spam was a rare treat we only got when invited to our "better-off" grandparent's house. $0.69 for a can of spam when we'd need 2 to feed us, and chicken quarters were $0.29/lb? A pound of beef was cheaper than a pound of spam. Spam was high living.

We could never afford it or seen the need for it because everything came off the farm.

To those who say Spam isn't good, you need to go to the Spam Museum in Austin, MN. It's really an interesting place and gives a lot of Minnesota history along with the story of the Hormel Co.

I always thought spam is a good way to pack meat for a camping trip. Spam cooked on a Coleman stove on a pickup tailgate brings back fond memories for me. Almost any processed food you can buy is loaded with salt so spam is no different in that respect.

Have to disagree when a can of Spam would feed a family of 6…so tell me again how we were living large, lol. It was a staple once the deer and squirrels ran out.

We grew up eating deer meat.Deer burgers,deer meatloaf,deer sausage,deer steaks,deer roasts,deer mincemeat,jerked deer meat,ect.....I still eat a lot of deer meat to this day.

Today in Georgia I could live all year off deer meat. 12 deer a year per person allows that. Back in the day it was 2 deer per person a season and there just weren’t a lot of deer. Heck, just seeing one got you street creds in school, lol.

Love spam! First had it when my uncle sent us a can for Christmas probably 1992 or 3 didn't have it again till I was grown lol fancy canned meat. Ate lots of pork as a kid, we raised pigs but that spam was expensive, at least that's what I was told lol.

I've always heard that inventions was a product of necessity much of which was war and/or the quest for space travel.
