Went to the ranch to water the melons and this turkey egg was laying there. I was ovah there about 4 days ago and wasn't there then. Any explanation how it got there. I have a lot of turkeys on the place though.

Yeah, sometimes hens will just drop an egg if they don’t have a nest site picked out yet.

Predators carry eggs and stash them all over. I dump thousands of eggs that don't hatch and have found them stashed many hundreds of yards away. Red fox especially cache eggs.

This weasel was rolling eggs away with his nose, in deep snow even.

Now that is a great picture!!

I was thinking an animal might have placed it there. I do know that there was fresh turkey tracks around there when I saw that egg.

Let me get this straight, you found a turkey's egg in a place know to have a lot of turkey? Am I missing something here?

the vent and the butt are not exactly the same place just very close to each other.

and if you eat them all you won't eat for a lifetime, you have to leave enough to hatch out for keep having eggs
given your competition in egg eaters you might want to get rid of some of the competition first.

Fantastic photo! I stopped trapping them when the price got so low. Just love having them around and seeing them. Very beneficial little predators.

Wife: That's the 4th time you've gone back for dessert, doesn't that embarrass you? Me: No, I keep telling them it's for you.
