Ohio has done a good job getting rid of out wild hog problem. USDA did most of the damage to the hogs though hunters did kill a bunch. What's left are just rumored pockets of hogs and the pockets nobody talks about because they don't want the USDA to come in to finish em off. Pretty much all the ones we had to start with were released domestic and imported wild hogs.

Yeah, you can get permission to kill all the hogs you want and some will even tell you that you can leave them where they lay, they’ll haul’em off the next morning, lol. Only issue is they don’t want to pay you to kill’em.

Sorta curious to see how this plays out over the coming years. Not sure how much public land Ohio has, but that’s where it’ll make the most difference. I know here when hogs are encountered (seen) on private land I’m getting a phone call. They want them gone and most of the time it’s a lone boar passing through looking for a mate.
Heck the property I’m trapping now had hogs last year and that was bonus money. Ain’t got the first pic or found any sign of hogs this year. May just be because it’s been so dry and they’re sticking to the bottoms and drains. They ain’t rooting up this cement we have for dirt right now.

As a percentage of total land Ohio is pretty far down the list for the amount of public grounds though that's increased here recently

Feral pigs have become a serious problem everywhere, including Missouri. At first they were BEGGING folks to kill them on sight, now they say to not hunt them at all, and let the "Pro's" do it.

In the areas that are very conducive to the pen traps, you're much better off letting the pros do it and leave the hogs alone .
