Made a inquiry about these log splitters in a thread a few wks ago and got some favorable comments on this Northern Tool product... Finally pulled the trigger on one, and assembled it yesterday.

Pulled it out in the backyard this morning, fired it up, and have to say I believe this thing will split anything you feed it.....Oak, hickory, any size, it just doesn't matter.

This thing is a powerhouse![Linked Image]

Good looking splitter . If you are handy with a welder. Build yourself a table That goes on each side of beam ,so the split round doesn't fall . Go to the supersplit , splitter , website .. Watch a video, you will see what I am talking about. Saves your back. old 243

Nice machine, the only thing that improves them is a larger log rack opposite the operator's station.
We fab expanded metal and angle iron that's hindged to fold up during transport with a drop leg
Increases efficiency alot, as you have a work area that holds wedges for processing.

Can it be used vertically as well for those really big rounds?

7-8 seconds.

Edit* The literature says 14 secs....I'm splitting 16"-17" lengths for a woodstove, so that's a different deal altogether..

You bet, and I will use vertical mode the most....Like Law Dog a buddy owns a tree service disposal, so some of the rounds are very large red & white oak.

I have a 10year old 30 ton, you will love the ram with the hook on the top (no ride overs) and the honda cutting back to idle when the ram is allthe way back.

Does the engine swivel for vertical use, or just the rail bed?
