Anyone have any experience with these? Kind of pricy and suspect they are a gimmick. Says they squeak like a mouse 10 seconds on then 10 off. Lasts for about 10 days.

Gimmick? Have no clue. I can tell you they work for cats and fox. So much so I had 3 cats in three days. Same set, just remade and left squeaker going, lol. I taped it to the underside of a small pine above the set.
Yes, they squeak as advertised and mine would last about 2 weeks. Put a camera on one and apparently that squeak is loud enough to entice owls to try and find it cause they loved that tree after dark. Is it a guarantee? Nah, but I do think it helps for sure.
Glad you posted this, I may put one out at a set and see what happens. The reason I taped it to the underside of a limb was to keep it functioning during rain.

I didn't mean to insinuate that is was a gimmick, I was trying to get some insight as to whether people thought it was one. 3 cats in 3 days is awesome. I'm going to give it a try this year and see how it goes.

I have used them to help catch chicken killing fox in the summertime.

When you turn it on you better be in a quiet environment, lol. I have to hold mine up to my ear to hear it, but in the dead of night I guess it’s loud enough.

I got given three of them and put one out with no luck, but I had snow and could see nothing came by close enough to hear it while it was going. Had kind of forgot about them until this post.

I think I’d rather have a quieter squeaker close to a set location than a loud screaming blaster. Most of the commercial ones need toned way down in my opinion. I’ve used a few different ones over the years. The new woodpecker one looks interesting but I can see cats and owls stealing them if they can reach them.

The older ones from the 1980-90s Squealing Partner and others were loud but were a killer on gray fox and coon.

The ones shown in the OP are not very loud at all. Very low volume.

Yeah, so much so I didn’t even think it was working. Like I said turn it on in a quiet area and you’ll hear it.

My dad borrowed one of the ones I have, (like those pictured) and he had to have my mom tell him if it was on or not, because he can't hear that tone at all. Haha.

In my mind, a cat will sit and look at something a long time sometimes before committing. If it makes a light squeak while it’s looking at it it’ll definitely be heard and might seal the deal. Good lure and set construction will do the same though. There are no two animals more gimmicky than cats and mink as far as complicated sets. Maybe cage trappers could benefit more from them if there was some way they could be utilized without being enclosed in the cage with a trapped cat. I’ve had lifelike flags over sets just disappear or be down on ground twenty feet from set. I attributed mostly to owls.

Seems they'd work. I put several in used sardine can, punched 2 holes in the side, 2 finishing nails on tree trunk. The squeaker/can slides on/off of nails and keeps dry in a rain. I don't benefit from it often as local dogs show up, apparently they can hear 100's of yards away. I can hear it maybe 20 feet away.

Have had real success with the mouse squeaker on cats. Eric

I've been using them the past 3 or 4 seasons. They work for me, and I've seen evidence of where a cat heard it and made a beeline directly to my set from 35-40 yards out. Would I have caught the cats I caught off the squeakers without them? Maybe, maybe not. Initial drawbacks were sometimes finding a squeaker after it snowed and the batteries had died. Fixed that by putting them in a tin soup can that I hang near the set. Also, keeping track of the battery life at individual sets. Now I mark the date right in my Garmin and know as soon as I pull up that a set has been out ten days and probably ready to be swapped out with a squeaker with fresh batteries. Now the only drawback is catching fox at my cat sets. I love trapping fox, but when hoping for a high dollar cat, a fox is a bit of a let down.

Have you seen the "Clark McGhie" videos on YT? He has used them recently trapping dingoes. Might give you some insight on the sqeakers.
