No, keeep up!
That was last season!

The Market currently wants these summer 'hogs, sparse, thin hair, with a battalion of gnats escorting them.
The Chinese are buying up every one that hits the international market, using them to make thongs, to combat global warming and western expansionalism.

Real out of the box thinkers are wearing them fur in, during the winter, so one garment yields year round, reversible comfort!

Hasn't Groney mentioned the demand in their latest Market Report yet???

Groundhogs have good fur right after they come out of hibernation, here that is in mid may normally,The fur goes downhill fast so the window for decent skins is small.
I used to take them and tan them and use them to make combo fur hats. The groundhog fur went very well with early caught red fox for making bomber style or trapper style hats.
I havent worked with groundhog fur in a long time,I should take a few next spring.
They have a strong leather.

I like to skin them and stuff them with grass or leaves and hide them when someone comes over for a groundhog hunt. Keep just enough showing so it can be seen from the shooting location
Sure makes for some interesting fun. LoL
I just keep them in the freezer until I need them
Have a couple waiting for the wheat and oats to come off

Used to trap them back in the 70/80s and sell them to Mepps and a few other places, they also bought such things as starling skins which bought .50 cents each and the hog skins we got 2 dollars for, back then I would catch and skin out a couple hundred starlings every could weeks and several ground hogs and with trapping pocket gophers I made a fair income especially for a teenager

In the North Carolina mountains they would take a groundhog skin, cut narrow strip around and around to make boot strings. They were known as unbreakable boot strings. And groundhog skin was used as the head of home made banjos.

Groundhog skins were also braided into horsewhips back in the day.

Groundhog and fox squirrel make a good long lasting bow string. Fox squirrel is a bit better in my experience, but I made several of groundhog that worked well, just a bit larger diameter.

Sold them all for $15 each [Linked Image]
