I was wondering if you could make bacon out of it. Does it taste fishy? Yes I know they are not a fish.

Nope again. It does have a bit of a fishy taste and being seafood would not be safe to attempt it. The oil drips right out of it at room temp

I will rot down a jar of the blubber on the kitchen counter for a week or so. It starts smelling a little but that's how you know its working. smile

Jeff I'd say you're living high on the hog because of some great friends ! I've got a sneaking suspicion that it's an acquired taste ?

Thanks for sharing with us !

Once it's rotted down on the counter you just eat it and hope to survive?

Young adult I’d guess, with the white skin. Calves are more grayish

Its fine, as long as you dont seal the jar while its rendering

For dipping dry fish and adding to soup or meat.

Yes, looked like a last years calf just a bit of gray left.. Nice and tender still.

Is rotting down the correct wording? Are you trying to get oil?
No meat? I remember my Emmonak g/f brining beluga meat and drying it.

Rendering would be the correct wording I guess, but its being rendered at room temperature, so technically it is rotted down. And yes, for the oil.

He didn't bring me any meat. I like the dried meat, it turns black, looks like liquorish. They are hunting for the skin, they leave most of the meat usually.

Do they not like the meat? Seems odd to leave it
